Christmas Candy Cane Brownies Recipe

Christmas is right around the corner and everyone is looking for new minty and festive desserts for Christmas Day (and the days leading up to it). Brownies are already a quick and easy dessert for whenever you’re craving something chocolatey and gooey, and adding peppermint and candy canes creates the perfect Christmas dessert. This is an easy recipe for Peppermint Brownies made from scratch in just one bowl. They are chocolatey, fudgy, and festive for the holiday season. They’re  topped with a decadent chocolate ganache and crushed peppermint. They are best when slightly under-baked and perfect to bring to your next holiday party. There are only three steps for this recipe:

  1. Mix ingredients for brownies together
  2. Bake brownies for 35 minutes 
  3. Mix ingredients for chocolate ganache
  4. Pour ganache over completely cooled brownies       

Ingredients For Brownies:

  • 2 Tbsp. butter, unsalted
  • 1 ¼ cups chocolate chips, divided
  • ¾ cup cocoa Powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed (light or dark)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. Peppermint extract 
  • ¾ cup flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. Espresso powder (optional) 
  • Peppermint Candies/Candy Canes, crushed for garnish

Chocolate Ganache:

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cup
  • 1 tsp. Peppermint extract 
  • 1 tsp. Butter, unsalted
