Halloween Pumpkin Roll

“Pumpkin Roll”

With Halloween around the corner, you may want to explore some spooky baking options for this October. The pumpkin roll is one of the most popular and well-known fall baked goods and one of the quickest and easiest Halloween breakfasts. With only a few ingredients and only a ten-minute prep time, this will be one of the tastiest Halloween dishes you and your family can enjoy. A pumpkin roll is a type of Swiss roll filled with cream cheese and first appeared in 1977, named the “sourdough pumpkin roll” by Rita Davenport. And another version, the “spiced pumpkin roll” appeared in 1978 in the Sunset cookbook of desserts, by David E.

People assume a pumpkin roll to be messy but with the use of parchment paper and making sure to roll it while it’s still hot it will be a mess-free activity. Once the roll is completed it will have to cool for an hour in the fridge but it’s the perfect amount of time to prepare for the meal. There are only a few steps: Make the pumpkin cake batter, bake it on parchment paper, roll while hot, let cool, make cream cheese filling, spread filling across the unrolled cake, roll it back up, and let it chill in the fridge for an hour. With a quick and easy process, the pumpkin roll will become a family favorite this October.
