The Bears’ Homecoming

The+Bears+Homecoming

WE WON! Us, the Vestal High School Golden Bears, won our Homecoming football game on Friday, September 29, 2023 against Corning. The game started with a fantastic pep rally which made our school day shorter. The students were excited, not only that there was a pep rally with people participating in amazing games, but that the school day was cut short. It was as if you could feel the win that was going to end the night. The game started early with a tailgate party that many were ecstatic about. I saw more kids at the game than I’ve seen in school, which tells you something! As people were getting their faces painted for the game and getting pizza for a little pre-game prep, tons of people began showing up. It was not only high schoolers, but kids in middle and elementary school! The high schoolers were dressed in their class colors, so the freshmen wore yellow, sophomores white, juniors green, and the seniors black. As the football players emerged onto the field, the cheerleaders started to get the crowd excited for the start of the game. Standing up from our seats, everyone in the bleachers tried to stand as tall as possible so we could see the field. After every touchdown, our football players made the crowd roar with excitement and relief. During the halftime show, it seemed inevitable that we would win, but some were still nervous about what could change in the last half of the game. At last, we ended up winning! The crowd screamed so loud when the game ended that the birds in the sky went flying. As everybody was ready to head home, fireworks began as a symbol that we had won. But the real symbol was everybody’s smiles (besides the other team!).
