Dispatch: Introduction. . .
Dispatch is a game about coaching new, problematic superheroes to make them the best they can be. In the beginning, you are a very famous hero known as Mecha-Man, but in a fierce battle with a villain, the suit that allowed for the main character’s powers broke. The game goes through a series of interesting, plot-driven interactions until you end up being hired by a superhero organization called the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN), with the deal of getting the Mecha-Man suit fixed if you coach their new team. You’re first hired as a sort of coach for the Z-Team, a new team of superheroes that is made up of supervillains who were caught and chose to pursue the life of a hero. This game has several chapters to it, known as “episodes,” which come out in bundles of 2 every week on Wednesday, until they are all released. In this game, you play as the main character, Robert, whose family has passed down the Mecha-Man suit for generations. After becoming an employee of the SDN, you work a desk job where you assign specific heroes to specific missions. You have total control over which heroes you send, all depending on what you feel the mission might require, whether that be something like a strong body, fast legs, or a smart mind. You have absolute discretion over how your experience in this game goes. As you go through the game, you make both small and big decisions, which can drastically impact your game over time, whether that be something as simple as your romantic partner or something as important as getting your suit fixed. The end goal of your character, Robert, is to have his suit fixed so he can get back to the life of a superhero. His main motivation for this is to defeat what he deemed as his arch-nemesis, a traitor of his father, who was killed by a hero-turned-villain known as Shroud. As you play this game, you’ll traverse many decisions, both tough and easy, and find yourself wherever the build-up of those decisions has led you. At the time of writing this article, there are 6 episodes, meaning the final 2 episodes will come out on November 12, 2025. So, whether you decide to play this game seriously, attempting to make all the decisions that you deem correct, or whether you play more laidback and just do whatever you think would be fun, this masterpiece of a game will be sure to give you everything you hope for, and more.
