Maggie Zhang is a senior at Vestal High School. She’s also the Pet Care columnist for Bearfacts! Maggie feels that bringing attention to our shared adoration of our pets helps VHS students connect and forge new friendships. According to Maggie, the best part of writing for the Pet Care column is watching the eager, bright-eyed reactions of her interviewees when they talk about the pets they love and care for.

Before joining Bearfacts, Maggie thought writing was a bit of a chore. She admits it was a lot of work and challenging at first. However, through running her column, Maggie now recognizes the value of writing as a tool to recount special memories.

After graduation, Maggie plans on attending university. She hopes to get into medical school later. Maggie wants to spend her adult years exploring and traveling the world, as she loves experiencing different cultures and their signature foods.

Maggie’s advice to aspiring members of Bearfacts is to write what you want! Never overwork or burn yourself out, she explains. Just relax and take in all the fun and valuable experiences the club has to offer.
