Meredith is a 2025 graduate of Vestal High School with plans to attend the University of Rochester in pursuit of Biomedical Engineering. She looks towards a post-graduate degree through the 4+1 program provided by her university, heading towards a career in pharmaceutical or research to discover solutions to illnesses or contribute to developing prosthetics. With ambition for the future, she plans to open her own cell and tissue research lab to make healthcare accessible to everyone.
Joining BearFacts in her junior year through Mrs. Benjamin, her teacher called her out as a brilliant potential columnist for the school newspaper. She wrote for the fun fact column, enjoying the time off from the challenging math/science assignments she frequently worked on. When she first entered high school as a freshman, she was nervous and unsure of what the future held for her. Over time, she faced various adversities with rigorous academic courses and struggled with self-confidence. Despite these obstacles, she overcame them and strived to be the best with the ambition and experience she gained along the way. Cherishing her high school memories, she enjoyed going to football games, dancing, and playing sports with her friends. She has changed incredibly since freshman year, holding her confidence and skills with high hopes for the future. Given her overall experience here at Vestal High School, her story is one of many, inspiring students to achieve their goals!
Not only is Meredith a diligent student, but a unique character with a fascinating story! Taking Mr. Thayer’s IB Theory of Knowledge, she sees the world with a firm grasp of her core beliefs and opinions, shaping her into the academic intellectual she is today. With a deep appreciation for engaging discussions, she says his class “…should be required for everyone to take, as it is engaging and discussion-based”.
Her life is filled with care, with her adorable and beloved dogs, as much as their part with her family with her two younger sisters. Growing up, Meredith took pride in being best friends with each other, playing the same sports, and enjoying time with her shared group of friends. Despite the disagreements and arguments they may have had, she will miss them the most during her time at college, reminiscing about the fun times they had together.
The advice she gives to younger students is to “Strive to always be the best version of yourself. A mere smile in the hallway or a random act of kindness can alter the course of someone’s day, or maybe even their life!”
And just for fun, she can touch her nose with her tongue– a wacky fact you may not expect from her!
