As the Editor-in-Chief of Bearfacts, Amina Haq has spent the entire year helping shape others’ stories–now it’s time to tell her own. With high school nearly behind her, and college on the horizon, Amina reflects on her senior year and advises underclassmen!
Throughout the school year, Amina’s role in Bearfacts as Editor-in-Chief is to edit articles in every edition along with organizing the website to ensure everything looked cohesive. She created engaging lessons for newcomers at the beginning of the school year, and shared “I also do my best to make sure all members feel comfortable and have all their questions answered”. Due to her hard work and dedication, Bearfacts has become the remarkable environment it is today.
As a senior who’s lived through senioritis, I felt it was only right to ask Amina about it. When asked, she laughed and said “Senioritis has definitely been difficult to handle, but I’ve been able to stay concentrated because I’m in New Visions and am able to learn about things that interest me.” Taking classes that she is genuinely interested in and all of the senior activities have made senior year exciting and worthwhile for her.
When asked about advice for underclassmen, Amina emphasized the importance of self-care, “High school can be difficult and it is important for the future, but nothing is more important than self-care,” she stressed. Taking a few moments to yourself is nothing to be ashamed of and is healthier for you in the long run!
Looking to her bright future, Amina is going to be attending Binghamton University. When inquired about her plans she stated she will be “majoring in biochemistry on the pre-med track with a potential minor in sociology.” With many more milestones to come in her life, there’s no doubt she will face them with the same determination she brought to Bearfacts. Thank you for your incredible contributions to Bearfacts and we look forward to you achieving great things in the future!
