Intro
Needless to say, it’s been a while since the last update on the Music Department, and there’s definitely been a lot of news to have been reported on, so before we start my personal apologies for the lack of updates these past two months, but no need to start on such a low note, this month’s still got a wonderful performance from the entire music department and some interesting news as well! As usual, I’m your writer, Matt Zahirovich, and for the last time this year, here’s what’s going on, Behind The Curtain!
VESTIVAL
For upcoming performances in May, what better place to start than one of the biggest performances of the entire year! The Vestival will feature a grand suite of ensembles, including all of the well known band, orchestra, and choral groups, alongside Modern Music, IB Music, and a few surprise student run bands too! Furthermore, there’ll be many tables selling trinkets, snacks and drinks during the Vestival as well! Join us for an evening of music, sadness, and most importantly fun! The Vestival will be held in the VHS Cafeteria from 3pm to 7pm on May 31st, all Vestal High School students are welcome to attend!
Les Miserables!
The VHS Theater Department will be hosting a rerun of Vestal High School’s 2021 online production of Les Miserables, it’ll be held in the VHS Auditorium with snacks and drinks provided! Join us for an evening viewing at 6pm on Monday, May 19th.
Additional Information
The VHS Marching Band is now accepting registrants for their 2025-2026 season! An informational meeting will be held Thursday, May 15th, from 3-4pm for all those interested. As always, the marching band is open to all students regardless of experience. Join us for a summer of making friends, learning music, and fun!
Mr.Kiley will be hosting a one week A Cappella camp open to all of Vestal, allowing students from any district grades 6-12 to join. It’ll be held at Vestal High School from 12-2pm from July 28th to August 1st, join us for learning fun music, new musical techniques such as beatboxing, and something fun to do for a week during the summer, ask Mr.Kiley for more information of signups if you’re interested!
Closing
You know, I’m pretty sure that’s about it! Not only for this month but for this year all in all, that’s everything to know about what’s going on Behind The Curtain! But don’t worry, that’s not the end for Tales From The Music Department, we’ll be returning for the 2025-2026 school year next year to keep you posted for another school year! Until then, I’m your writer, Matt Zahirovich, thank you for keeping up with what’s going on throughout this year, Behind The Curtain!
