What is Anastasia?
Anastasia The Musical follows Anya, a young orphan with no memory of her past, who joins arms in newly formed Soviet Russia with two con-men, Dmitry and Vlad. Hoping to scam the old Dowager Empress out of a large cash prize, they train her to pass as the lost princess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov in hopes of fooling her in Paris. As Anya embarks on this journey, she begins to uncover her once forgotten memories, while forces from her past threaten her path. Set against the political upheaval of post-revolution Russia and the glamour of 1920s Paris, this musical blends romance, adventure, and self-discovery with an original score from Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, written by playwright Terrence McNally.
