In this month’s article, we will examine second-degree harassment. In simple terms, second-degree harassment is the purposeful intrusion into an individual’s life that can cause mental and emotional stress. A woman who lives in Vestal allegedly committed such an act. This 61-year-old woman allegedly threw her cell phone at the victim, ripped the victim’s shirt, and scratched his hand according to the Vestal Police Report. What is interesting to me is this was all a domestic incident. This means she allegedly attacked someone in her household. So, a family member. But why? What was her motivation? Was she under the influence? Did the family member attack her in some regard? She was arrested on September 11 at 3:57 pm. In her mugshot, she appears without makeup, her hair not done. This is different from her social media platforms, in which, to the naked eye, she leads a quiet life.
What is interesting to me, is she posted a TikTok a day before the incident. I’m assuming she did not plan to allegedly attack the victim, but something must have gotten out of hand. Her TikTok puts into perspective how a normal day and a seemingly normal life can get turned around rather quickly. Also, who was this family member? Did she have disputes with this family member beforehand? What made her allegedly strike out now? Or, maybe she has done it multiple times and the victim just now has called the police. Whatever the reason is, she was booked (arrested) in Broome County and there are little to no further updates on this case. If you or a family member are experiencing domestic violence please contact the police immediately. That’s all for this month and I hope to see you back for the next sleuthing session!
