Cow Ball Instead of Cow Baby?

Cow Ball Instead of Cow Baby?

Alexandra Yarosh, Journalist

Did you know that certain mammals can be born as a small, sphere-ish lump instead of a baby? Due to a rare genetic condition, a select few organisms (mostly cattle) can be born as a ball of flesh. What’s inside of these strange globs varies. Sometimes its organs, sometimes bone. The birth of these oddities is typically normal except for the fact that the baby is not living.

UPDATE: This is a fact! I’m not moo-sing around. A rare condition, amorphous globosus, can cause a fetus to develop into a small blob of cells rather than a mature animal. The organisms affected by this condition are never conscious, making amorphous globosus relatively harmless. It is also incredibly rare, only having about ten known cases (mostly in cattle and mares). But it is still pretty cool!
