Elf on the Shelf Memories

When I was younger, one of my favorite Christmas traditions was the Elf on the Shelf. During winter break, my brother and I would wake up super early in the morning to see where the elf had moved to. The elf was never hidden in plain sight, so my brother and I would have to go looking for him. It was like a mini scavenger hunt. One time, the elf was hanging upside down from a light! The rule for the Elf on the Shelf is that you aren’t supposed to touch the elf because then the elf will lose all of its magic. I never touched the elf because I didn’t want it to stop moving around. However, there was this one time that I did touch it. This was when I was a little older and I was more skeptical about magic and elves. When no one was looking, I touched the elf. The next day when I came downstairs, I noticed that the elf was in the exact same position as the day before! I thought that I had taken away all of the magic from the elf, which was sad for a small child. However, when I was older I realized that my parents had just coincidentally forgotten to move the elf the night before. Oops! Even though I don’t have the Elf on the Shelf anymore, it’s still one of my favorite Christmas memories.
