Theodor Caban is an exchange student from Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic.  This year he entered Vestal High School as a junior and is staying with his host family, the Biligs.

While he watched movies and hung out with friends in the Czech Republic, Caban enjoyed doing the same here during his free time.  He likes school as he gets to meet up with friends, he said, and his favorite subject being math for its structured lessons. As a cross country and track runner and an ice hockey player, he proved to be an incredible athlete and enjoyed that as well.

The exchange program was “something new,” he said.  Though going into it was difficult, Caban stated that he was ready to take on the challenge.  It helped him to step out of his comfort zone and improve his English. Vestal presented him with many experiences and gave him “better perspective on life,” he added.

“I have really enjoyed having Theodore in my US History class,” Ms. Vanderpool said. “He is an excellent student and we have all learned a lot from him being here.”

Theodore’s last day of school will be Monday and he will be leaving Vestal next week.
